The NaGaDeMon stirs in the deep… Getting a bit ahead of it this year, National Game Design is coming up soon! In less than three weeks the now-even-more-deeply rebellious spin-off of NaNoWriMo (genAI sucks) will be having its 15th iteration. To quote from the hub site:

“NaGaDeMon is all about building community through a shared passion for games and game design. Though it began as a way to motivate people to finish projects, it has grown into something much bigger.

Now [it] is about meeting new people, exchanging ideas and sharing experiences. It doesn’t matter what kinds of games you are passionate about, this is a great place to talk about game design, share ideas, seek advice or just geek out over the games you love.”

The first link above will bring you to the 2025 game jam (which is by no means necessary to participate in the overall event, by the way), with further links to the Discord and Facebook communities. Create! Play! Talk!

From the Archives

October’s dive into the spookier section of our archives continues with the latest swing at an old license with a completely new set of RPG mechanics, our review of Arkham Horror.

Discussion of the Week

For those of you who like “GM never rolls” systems, why do you like that feature? Never played, or more importantly, ran a game where the GM never rolls dice? This thread will give you plenty of reasons why you might want to give it a try.
