National Game Design Month 2023: The rebellious spin off from National Novel Writing Month has returned once again to try to slay the NaGaDeMon! While often focused on roleplaying games, the month of pressure cooker game design can also feature projects for card, board, and even video games. Four days in and it looks like a banner year – the itch jam has more than doubled its number of designers over last year’s, and the discord is booming so much it had to create more than one category for all of the different 2023 project channels!
r/rpg Rule Changes – Blacklisted Creators: Straight from the original post:
“For the last few months we mods have been seeing a large upward trend in arguments, disrespectful comments, and personal attacks regarding the subject of creator Alexander Macris. Whenever he is brought up, people seem to come out of the woodwork to start something. This has been happening increasingly frequently and has become difficult to moderate, with several threads being locked due to these heated arguments. Furthermore, the mod team here has seen evidence of vote manipulation and collusion from the ACKS discord channel to promote ACKS here beyond what is permitted by reddit. For those reasons, all mentions of AlexanderMacris, his creations, or his company will no longer be permitted on r/rpg.”
The actual rules change is a new rule stating No Blacklisted Creators, creating a way to more easily deal with this sort of thing in the future. This replaces an old Rule 9, which previously stated No Zak S, long since banned from the subreddit. Macris and S are the only creators currently on the blacklist. When you’re the only other person put into a bucket with Zak S, by reddit of all places, you’ve got to be a real piece of work.
