Itch.io marketplace now requires asset creators to disclose their use of generative AI: The latest salvo in the battle over generative AI comes from itch.io, which will now require asset creators to disclose their use of the tools in anything they upload. While this is clearly a victory for the tabletop RPG creators and players who use the platform, the announcement has seen more attention in the press because of what it means for digital creators. Still, it’s ultimately good news that those who put a prompt into a piece of software have to acknowledge that before passing the work off as something it isn’t.

The most recent change to X’s (it’s Twitter, really) privacy policy has triggered another exodus from the platform, including an exodus of tabletop creators acute enough that Polygon noticed. Of course Twitter hasn’t been good for a while; you could even argue Twitter was never good. From the archives today is our discussion of the impacts of Twitter on the TTRPG hobby from two years ago called, appropriately, Twitter and the TTRPG Hobby. I personally can’t believe we’ve needed to make statements on Twitter for over two years now, but this is the state of the world we live in.

Your White Whale?: RPG recommendation threads on Reddit usually aren’t that great. On the other hand, threads about games the people already want to run can be really illuminating about what games are selling their premise and process effectively and are therefore desirable to us GMs of the world. This isn’t the first ‘white whale’ thread and it won’t be the last, but they all get people thinking positively about what play experiences they want to have.
