Top News Stories
Elon Musk asks ‘How much is Hasbro?’: Apparently pointing out that there was racism and sexism in the early editions of D&D was too much for the most divorced Dad on the internet. Luckily for all of us it’s Black Friday, so you can all get out and into other games before D&D goes the way of Twitter.
From the Archives
Youtuber Matt Colville recently posted a video on Jon Peterson’s The Elusive Shift which helped sell the book on a wider part of the RPG hobby. Having reviewed the book closer to its release, I can say we’re in line with his conclusions, and I would echo the recommendation. From the archives this week is the Cannibal Halfling review of The Elusive Shift, from back in 2021.
Discussion of the Week
Is Wildsea less popular than I was led to believe?: The crux of this discussion is not directly about Wildsea, a game which got a fair amount of hype (our review and play experience was pretty positive) due to its unique setting and similar-but-different take on Forged in the Dark mechanics. When you walk outside of the indie/alternate RPG sphere, though…nothing is popular. Everything’s D&D, with little shakes of Cyberpunk and Pathfinder. Definitely inspires thinking on in-group/out-group perception, and why so many people call D&D a different hobby entirely.
