Top News Stories

Hasbro signs ‘D&D’ gambling license: Hasbro has licensed D&D to an internet gambling company, Games Global. While there have been D&D slot machines in the past, online gambling is a bit more troubling to me because it’s both more pervasive and because age verification is, frankly, a joke (explaining what’s going on with Pornhub in Florida [the link is SFW, to CBS News]). D&D’s target audience has always been relatively young, so using the brand for gambling, especially outside of casinos where you at least can be carded at the door, is problematic.

Discussion of the Week

Why don’t more people talk about fiasco??: While the points in the comments about the game’s lack of novelty or complexity are fair, one would think that a game that delivers solid roleplay at board game complexity while also being hilarious would be discussed more often in an era where the hobby is gnashing its teeth about offboarding players from D&D.

From the Archives

While it’s not all that recent, we have talked about Fiasco. We talked about it again, too.
