ENnies voting is open: ENnies voting opened yesterday on July 10th! Follow the link here to vote for any and all of the categories of nominees. Rank your votes 1 for first choice, 2 for second choice, and so on, but know that using the ENnies’ ‘Instant Runoff Election’ voting system, any vote, even a 5 out of 5, is more of a positive than no vote. Discussion of the Week

“rules light” =/= “beginner friendly”: It’s been noted many times before, but the TTRPG hobby, both in large and small arcs, has a notable problem with forgetting and relearning the same ideas over and over and over again. Some of this is tied to the lack of a broad, consistent body of critique, but some also is the fact that we’re only really seeing any amount of mainstream and academic consideration of the hobby in the last ten years or so. I’m not saying that everyone needs to go out and buy Jon Peterson’s books in order to play, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask that someone consider what discussions have been going on in the hobby before announcing something is a “hot take”.
