Top News Stories

Tim Kask, TSR’s First Employee, Passes At Age 76: Another one of the ancient D&D wizards – Kwalish, this time – has left us. As the headline says Kask was TSR’s first employee and worked as an editor for Dragon Magazine. Along the way one of his characters would lend their name to the wondrous item Apparatus of Kwalish, still bouncing around today. Kask passed away due to a sudden illness, surrounded by friends and family.

From the Archives

Let’s go for a two-fer, before we get to any reviews this year, and revisit our talks about both the trouble with reviews and the intent of them. Both good things to keep in mind as we dive into a fresh crop of them.

Discussion of the Week

Aaron Voigt brings us a video essay covering the last 15 years of indie RPGs. “I start with Apocalypse World’s release, work through the Google+ Era, and follow design lineages and historical events that have impacted the hobby up through 2025.” Whether you were in the game the entire time or are a relative newcomer looking to learn how we got here, it’s worth checking out.
