From the Archives
This week Seamus covered the quickstart for Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpok, and the Kickstarter campaign for the game has soared past a million dollars since its launch on Tuesday. The approach that Modiphius is taking for this version is interesting, leaning more on the side (and taking the name from) the in-setting concept of ‘Narrativium’. While clearly more, er, narrative than earlier versions (yes, I mean the GURPS one), it also sets up players to perhaps take a more relaxed approach to the dozens of books worth of canon that Sir Terry Pratchett generated during his life. From the archives today we’re looking at The Trouble With Canon, a consideration of the conflict between official works and your gaming table that permeates all extensive fictional worlds.
Discussion of the Week
What’s your favorite system you haven’t played?: We’ve talked plenty about being an RPG reader or collector, and those two activities can often be a bit easier than being an RPG player. This thread covers many favorite games, but also covers why they’re intimidating, inaccessible, or just so new that the local group hasn’t warmed up to them yet.
