Top News Stories
One heck of a week for AI nonsense in geek spaces: UK Games Expo joined the list of conventions banning AI work in their space, already-Chaotic-Evil World of Game Design is going around turning failed-to-deliver Kickstarter projects into AI zombies to the seething ire of everyone, and an AI merchant at Oz Comic-Con got banned after biting someone (despite our name, this may be the closest we’ve come to discussing actual cannibalism).
I don’t know, folks, I think maybe AI sucks and you shouldn’t be using it for creative projects because everyone can smell its Tarkin-like stench the second they come on board.

As Solo September continues, let’s flash back to a Wretched & Alone entry for a past September step into a mecha cockpit with Solitaire Storytelling: CHVLR.
Discussion of the Week
The Purpose of Kickstarter: Crowdfunding is not going away as an important facet of the TTRPG industry, duh, but there’s no denying that its purpose and who uses it has… wobbled a fair bit. The OP here is making a ‘public service announcement’ about it being originally meant to help small creators fund their work, not for the purpose of pre-ordering finished projects or subsidizing large companies, etc. Honestly, the discussion in the thread doesn’t hold together very long before people start being mean to each other, so reader beware, but there’s a kernel of thought there that everyone should grab onto and be chewing on. As backers, where your money is going and what risks you are willing to take. As creators, how far you can get your project without funding in the first place, and whether or not you think you can sell it convincingly in an unfinished state or if you can take on the risk of fully making something that may never be funded.
