Welcome to the Cannibal Halfling Weekend Update! Start your weekend with a chunk of RPG news from the past week. We have the week’s top sellers, industry news stories, something from the archives, and discussions from elsewhere online.
RPG Top Sellers for 11/7/2026
Top News Stories
Itch.io deletes terabytes of AI spam and enforces TTRPG disclosures: After cleaning house of bulk-generated content, itch.io is now requiring that physical games sellers complete an AI disclosure form before they’re allowed to create pages. This is certainly an improvement, though itch critics note it took two years after a similar requirement was imposed on digital games and assets, as well as the fact that the heavy-handed filtering seen on adult content clearly implies that itch (and all other digital platforms) have had the ability to filter AI slop this whole time, if they cared enough about it.
Digital Tabletop Fest 2026 on Steam: Not our usual bag for the news section, but sometimes you get an interesting press release. Having started on the 5th and running through the 15th, the Fest is hosted by Nomad Games and Monster Couch in special collaboration with SPIEL Essen and “brings together digital adaptations of beloved board games and titles inspired by the tabletop experience”. It’s got the typical Steam discounts, yes, but what makes it particularly worth mentioning is that it’s an actual event, with “developer announcements, interviews with board game designers and digital adaptation teams, as well as panel discussions with people from across the industry.” Seems worth a look!
From the Archives
It’s come up in discussions of good licensed games, it inspired a playthrough on Cannibal Halfling Radio, and now Seamus might end up failing to Get Out of the GM Chair because of it. From the archives we have the review of the truly surprising and quite delightful Cowboy Bebop RPG.
Discussion of the Week
What’s a game based on a licensed TV Show, Movie, Book, Video Game, etc… that you actually like?: We’ve perhaps spent more time reviewing licensed games that we wanted to be good than we should, but it’s good to remember that the hobby is in part built on a foundation of very solid licensed games. Star Wars (both d6 and FFG), Leverage, Blade Runner, and The One Ring all get worthy mention here.
