We’re trying something new!: Since the feature began, Weekend Update has started with the top five bestsellers from the DriveThruRPG daily charts. After discussion with readers on our Discord, we’ve decided to pilot an expansion of this, also including the top five bestselling games from Physical Games on itch.io. Specifically we’re looking at top selling physical games over the last seven days, which should keep things relevant every week. This list is likely to be a lot more dynamic than the DriveThruRPG list, and will mean that we’re looking at two unique perspectives when it comes to what games people are talking about every week.

Discussion of the Week

I think reading RPGs and actually playing them have quietly become two different hobbies for me: We’ve talked before about the different hobbies in RPGs, be that reading or collecting. It is a different and worthy perspective, though, to think about participating in multiple versions of the RPG hobby and considering how you, an individual, approaches reading and playing differently.

The archive dive is a pretty obvious one this time – while playing games is obviously one version of the hobby, we had quite a bit to say when it came to collecting and reading them as legitimate ways to gain enjoyment from a game, even when it never ends up hitting the table.
