Wizards distributes anti-union propaganda to employees: In an effort to forestall the unionization by Magic: the Gathering Arena developers, Wizards of the Coast has reportedly distributed a letter to explain “how union representation works”, emphasizing pitfalls of collective bargaining and stating that employees could “end up with more, the same, or less than [they] have now”. Given the specific demands articulated on the United Wizards of the Coast website, it seems unlikely that WotC’s benefits are going to be compelling. It’s additionally worth noting that, given the long history of organized labor, the company’s claim that “your voice is strongest when it’s heard directly” is, well, a lie. On this day eight years ago, we took a look at an unlikely expansion for a favorite indie system. From the archives this week is the Fate Horror Toolkit Review.
Discussion of the Week
People who’ve run long (10+ years) campaigns, any tips for success?: A massive, multi-year campaign is seen as ‘the dream’ to many, but keeping one story going that long is a massive undertaking. In fact, the posts here say as much, invoking the term ‘Ship of Theseus’ to explain how much changes over such a long time. Thought-provoking read for those of us (such as myself) who are considering keeping a campaign (or even a consistent setting) going for a long period of time.
