Top News Stories

Paizo Restructuring – Diamond Bankruptcy Still A Nightmare: Due to Diamond’s bankruptcy and subsequent disruption of distributor channel book sales, Paizo has been forced to both lay off workers and restructure elements of its core business, including the slowing of Pathfinder/Starfinder Society scenario releases and pausing Foundry support for all subsequent scenarios. The only silver lining is that the United Paizo Workers union had been able to work with Paizo to secure a minimum of two weeks severance and recall rights for 18 months, so at least that’s working.

RPG Trader Offers Alternative Marketplace for Indie Creators: A challenger has appeared. Leaving public beta on June 9th, RPG Trader aims to create a marketplace with features creators have been demanding that are absent from itch, while modestly reducing the commission compared to DriveThruRPG (20% versus 30%). It’s early days yet, but on the surface RPG Trader seems promising – and if Diamond’s fallout above didn’t make it clear, it’s always nice to at least to have one more basket to put some eggs in.
