It’s time for a very special Meet the Party, where we narrow our focus but broaden our range. The idea of the prestige class has returned to Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, and the playtesting goes on. Thanks to the Unearthed Arcana series, we get to once again be on the cutting edge as the first of the prestige classes is brought to light: the master of the magic of ancient runes, the Rune Scribe! The Independents: Ryuutama

Long ago the four dragons of Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter gave life to twenty dragons of earth and sky, who in turn gave the world its beautiful form, its ever-changing weather, and its many forms of life. These twenty-four dragons were the start of everything we know, and their kin still maintain a watchful eye. Today, an ancient custom among the people tells that all men and women must leave their homes and travel on at least one extended journey. Called Travelers, these people live a life of danger and great rewards, for though the wilds are full of monsters and treacherous terrain and the weather often fierce they are also beautiful, full of potential. And, always, one of the one-thousand and one Ryuujin watches over the Travelers, recording their stories and guiding their steps. Come on, Travelers. The path to Ryuutama awaits.

We last saw Interface Zero 2.0 with The Independents and, as promised in that article, Meet the Party now brings forth a ready-to-go team of freelancers for a game in the world of TAPs and hybrids and enhanced humanity. As The Independents mentioned IZ2.0 is a licensed Savage Worlds game, so you’ll need a copy of Savage Worlds Deluxe in order to get the most out of the characters, particularly when it comes to Edges, Hindrances, and certain powers.

The Independents: Interface Zero 2.0

Here at The Independents we aim to highlight some of these games, for a change of pace and a new (and great) experience!

The Tendril Access Processor, generally shortened to TAP and called Interface Zero by its creators, has allowed the people of the world to plug their brains right into the net, creating a new era of inter-connectivity complete with all-new dangers. The human genome has been molded and tweaked, leading to the creation of enhanced humans, vat-grown simulacra, and animal hybrids. Technology has allowed others to enhance themselves with augmentations, while at the same time creating full androids that can, with the right spark, think for themselves. National borders have collapsed or shifted, and the corporations have risen to power. The year is 2090. Good luck. You’ll need it.
